The planning of your project should be broken in to two categories. The first thing you are going to do is make sure you have a comprehensive understanding of the site you want to restore, we call this a “site assesment”. After you have collected all of the information you will need, you can then begin the design process based on that information. It is important to be thorough and thoughtful throughout this process as it will form the foundation for most of the decisions you will make in the future. Your plan may change during the course of its implementation, in fact you should expect that it will. Having a good understanding of your site from the beginning will allow you the flexibility and adaptability to make well informed decisions quickly. Collecting good information and building a good foundation will provide your best chances for success. It will also allow you to share with others exactly what you have done and why you have done it so that they can benefit from your experience as well as their own. Think of it as an iterative and collective reduction in error. We should learn from each other, right?
